alternate title: Funerals bring the WEIRD out of people.
That was the recurrent phrase between Jennifer and I as we attended my Aunt Katy's funeral yesterday.
I was very stressed out, and since my Uncle was half an hour late, I resigned myself to the van with Ronnie and the kids.
After the craziness of the day, My Uncle R, Aunt K, and cousin A came out to my parents house where we told our favorite (or not so favorite) moments of the day. At one point I realized how mad we all were, and I said, "Oh, Katy did good. Look at us were all mad. It's what our family does best, isn't it? Katy would be so proud of herself."
You see, Katy was notorious for coming in and getting everyone stirred up and fighting, then laughing at it all. We will miss her for that.
Then, Uncle R told a funny story about Aunt Pearly Mae's funeral in Mississippi, and we started laughing, and promises of homemade lazagna were made! We had a great time laughing and reminiscing about Katy and the crazy day we had just endured.
