The Potatoe Patch

I went to lunch today with my Beloved. Great food. Great service. Fun atmosphere.

For those who've never been to a Potatoe Patch--they throw rolls at you. "Hot Rolls," they yell. Put up your hand and the server flings a roll right at you! Lots of fun. My boys love when we go there.

Too bad we wont be going back!

Today, the owner of the restaurant was there. He sat down, ordered the waitstaff around like they were his servants, had two cooks come out to his table, where he began "disciplining" them (and that's a loose term) for the way they put things on the tickets. [By the way, I thought that was the waitstaffs responsibility]
Anyway, Ronnie and I were so embarrassed for these young men, that Ronnie went to the owner on our way out the door. This is how it went down:

R: Are you the owner, sir.
O: Why, yes, I am. (Pridefully)
R: Do you always talk to your employees like that infront of your customers?
O: [Heatedly] Are you telling me how to run my business?
R: Sir, I'm only telling you that your employees deserve to be treated with respect.

Me to the cashier: Oh, my, gosh! Is that your owner over there?
C: Yes ma'am. [With fear in her eyes]
M: He brought two cooks out while we were eating and yelled at them and now when my husband confronts him about it, he insults my husband!
C: I am so sorry, ma'am!
M: Well, you've just lost some great customers. We really enjoyed eating here until today. He ruined our meal. We will not be back!
C: I am so sorry, ma'am!

Then, unbeknownst [sp?] to me, Ronnie went back to the kitchen, where he told the cooks that he had just told their owner that he had know right to treat them the way he did. That the food was great and they deserved better treatment!

So, if any of you live in the Houston area, leave a comment and I'll let you know where this Potatoe Patch is, so you can avoid it!
