11 Weeks to go...

pregnancy due date

When I was 29 weeks pregnant with my oldest son, Ethan, he was born. After three weeks of feeling pretty bad and gaining 20 pounds, I was diagnosed with Toxemia. For those of you who don't know, Toxemia is a very rare, and dangerous disease affecting pregnant women. Usually only first time moms, and usually not so early in pregnancy. Toxemia rarely occurs before 36 weeks gestation, but when it does, it can be devestating.
Praise God Ethan was healthy, with no signs of long term problems. He was diagnosed at birth with chronic lung disease, but we haven't seen any lung problems since he was 18 months old. Hallelujah!
I recall visiting Ethan's NICU for the third or fourth time, the first time I walked to his crib side. On the way back from the NICU, I said to my Beloved, "Let's have another!"
In my defense, I was on morphine! Good stuff!
Anyway, Ethan will be 9 in April. He is healthy, happy and strong. Of course he was always strong. Ethan even means strength!
So, I suppose my point about 29 weeks and Ethan is that this is always a marker for me. I know that 29 week olds can survive. I know they can thrive. I know the ropes of prematurity, though I wouldn't want to experience them again. I know that baby Sofia is well and could make it in this world if whe chose to enter it now.
Thank the Lord, there are no signs that she is coming early. In fact, my fourth child, Levi, was nearly 2 weeks late.
So, 11 weeks to go. 2 1/2 months to go. 77 days to go.
I'd love to have her here now. Tomorrow I will post the pictures of her new crib bedding. It arrived yesterday, and I put it on her crib. It's so pretty. And, I promise, at some point I will post all the pictures of my garage sale and craigslist finds.
Have a blessed day!
