Meal Deal Monday

The HEB grocery list:
Buy:
Natural Angus Beef Roast
Get Free:
Pillsbury Golden Homestyle Biscuits (assorted varieties)
HEB Gravy Mix (assorted varieties)
Fleishmann's Margarine 11.8-16 oz. tub or sticks (assorted varieties)
Fresh Express Spinach 9 oz.
HEB Soft Drink 2 L bottle (assorted varieties)
Ranch Style Beans 15 oz.

For our family of 6, we double this list. It saves us so much to shop at HEB, since all we need to buy is the roast. This is also an excellent dish for Sunday's, since you can put the roast in the crock pot Sunday morning or Saturday night and "cook" while you're out!

So, how do I throw this all together?

I will be putting both roasts into a roasting pan, which my mom bought me a couple of Christmases ago (Thanks Mom), with the gravy and water to cover most of the roast. I leave just the very top part of the roast showing above the water, then salt and pepper the top so its nicely seasoned when its done.
The Ranch Style beans will be heated and served as a side dish, and I will most likely make mashed potatoes (from the box) as a second side dish--not to mention they'll be great with that gravy!
The spinach will be tossed in some kind of dressing and served with the bread on the table for anyone who wants them.
And the soft drink will most likely be Dr. B, HEB's generic 'Dr. Pepper.'

There will be much enjoyment of this meal for my family, and I am certain they will all request seconds!

Let me know if you are shopping at HEB, and how you prepare this meal for your family!

Oh my gosh, you are so sweet. :) I just read your post for today. Thanks for enjoying our story. I've loved all your comments along the way. The one about the PBS special was esp. interesting...cracked me up but at the same time I could also agree with her points that you mentioned...funny.

That HEB special is awesome. I wish we had an HEB. :) So, the way my mom has always made her roast was she put just a bit of water in the pot, just so the roast wouldn't stick. Then she added cream of mushroom soup and dry onion soup mix. It makes an incredible gravy mixed with the juices of the roast as it cooks. SO GOOD.

Love y'all.
