Still itchy

Today, I am still itching, but in localized places. Namely behind my knees and on my neck and upper chest. My skin is red in those places from scratching so much, and it is painful.
Thankfully, I discovered some remedies that at least alleviate the itching and pain for a while, and cause no side effects. However, I still itch!
I researched the medication, Zantac, that the doctor prescribed me for acid reflux. The darn thing can cause something called Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, or ICP for short.
ICP has a prominent symptom of ITCHING! Severe itching. There are other symptoms that I have that relate to ICP as well. Unfortunately, the lab tests will not be known until Monday. So, if I itch all weekend long, and end up with ICP, chances are, I'll be in the hospital for that emergency cesarean, instead of the planned one.
ICP can be dangerous for mother and baby.
I have, of course, stopped taking the Zantac, but so far, the itching has continued. I'll keep you all informed as to if and when the itching stops. Hopefully it will end soon. It hurts!

Hi there! I had the exact same itching condition when I was pregnant this last time. It was awful! It happened when I would try to relax or sleep. It did not have anything to do with what you have stated here from the Zantac...the itching is actually a very common symptom of pregnancy. I did not even take Zantac while, or before, I was pregnant. It will stop after the baby is out.
I had many sleepless nights from itching, and it began for me when I was around 5 months pregnant and did not let up until the day I gave birth. I also had creepy crawlies and my arms and legs would involuntarily jump or swing about, sometimes smacking my husband in our bed as we tried to sleep. I would have to move to the couch, and watch TV, and doing that would stop the itching since I was occupied with something other than trying to sleep or relax...I was keeping busy. I had several scratches on me during all this. You can read about it in my archives on my blog. Taking a shower or a bath can help...and keeping busy.
I'm sorry, this is a very iritating condition. You will get over it soon. It's almost time for baby to be here!

Thanks T.L.
I was only itching, now I have a rash. Hoping those lab results say I need to have this baby immediately.
You are right about the keeping busy thing. I did three loads of laundry this afternoon without itching a bit until I sat down. Then it started again. Argh!
