To Wal Mart, to Wal Mart to get a hair cut...

We dropped into Wal Mart this morning, all seven of us, and I signed in at the SmartStyle for a hair cut. It's been a while, and I really do get good cuts at Wal Mart.

So, as I'm saying goodbye to the family, an older black couple is watching us. Ronnie walks away with all five kids, and the lady says, "Do you have five kids?"

Uh oh! Here it comes! I brace myself. "Yes, I do!"

She says, "Is that all you plan to have?"

"We don't know. That's all up to God." I tell her.

Her lower jaw nearly hits the floor. She elbows her husband, turns to me and says, "OH! You are so blessed! Are you for real?!!"

I smiled, said, "Thank you. Yes, I'm for real. We feel like we shouldn't limit the Lord's blessing on our family."

"OH! I felt that! You ARE blessed!"

She goes on to tell me she was the seventh child of 13! Thirteen!

I asked if she enjoyed being part of such a large family, and she said, "I wouldn't have traded it for the world."

We spent about 20 minutes just talking and praising the Lord until it was time for my hair cut.
After my cut, she even complimented me on how pretty my hair looks down. I told her it was such a blessing to talk with her and her husband and I enjoyed it. She blessed me in return, and I went to the toy section to find Ronnie and the kids.

Now, doesn't it bless a large family mom's heart to see the joy on someone's face when viewing their family. I was truly blessed by that lady and her husband today. The Lord knew I needed that! What a great God we serve!

That is SO great!! And truly such a great gift whenever people look at it that way and let you know it.

I remember meeting one of my mentors for the first time. She has 6. Grady was only about 5 months old and I was pregnant with Hadley at the time. I told her how awesome I thought it was that she had 6 kids. She was kind of taken aback. She looked at me with this odd look and said, "Really? We don't get that response very much." I was shocked. I, in turn, said, "Really?" Of course, now I know what she was talking about. :-)

So glad that you got blessed...and got to get a new haircut...fun day.

I love that story!! I am pregnant with my fifth child. THe others are 10,4,2 and 10 months and the comments I get really stun me sometimes. My favorite is "you are done now, right?" My husband is deployed until May and reading your blog has lifted my spirits. I feel so blessed for all God has given me, but sometimes I just feel so alone and overwhelmed. Thank you for showing me there are others out there like me.
